Waterbeds were just known by hearsay 25 years ago. Many rumors and prejudices existed because of this ignorance which are still alive paradoxically. Even now a professional awareness training is necessary to get the clear advantages of waterbeds in people's mind.
Knöchel Wasserbetten Zentrum was one of the first specialized stores in Aschaffenburg.
Development from 1985 to 1990
At the location in Aschaffenburg the factory space could be enlarged from 400 qm to 1.000 qm already in 1990. The staff of 5 employees was doubled in 1990 up to 10 employees. The amount of sold waterbeds increased continuously.
1990 to 1995
Our specialized waterbed store (which was very small at first) could increase its sales up to more than 500% in the years from 1990 to 1995. The factory space was doubled and enlarged to more than 2.000 qm. The staff increased to 15 employees...
From a just regional business we developed into a national specialized waterbed store. Commercials in Sat.1 and RTL, especially game shows like "Glücksrad" and "Der Preis ist heiß" increased the degree of popularity of waterbeds and the company Wasserbett Zentrum Knöchel transnationally.

1995 to 1998
The factory space increased to 2.500 qm. More rooms could not be added to the location, our company seemed to explode. Our staff insisted of 25 employees at that point.
1999
More space was rented. We could not meet our demand of space anymore. Our staff increased to 30 employees.
The company Knöchel became the biggest specialized waterbed store in Europe.
Allein Even at the regional area of Aschaffenburg we were already in charge of more than 20.000 satisfied waterbed owners. In the Rhein/Main area we have many satisfied regular customers in every city.
The big step in 2000
Am On the 15th of July in 2000, we opened "The biggest waterbed showroom of the world". On an estate of more than 12.000 qm of space we could buy a building with more than 11.000 qm of usable building area. Also we got sufficient storage area. In our showrooms we had enough space to build up and present the most important and different waterbeds - more than 150 exemplars. Our parking area lasts for 100 customers.
Till now
Health becomes more important constantly referring to the consultation of waterbed systems. This is why we cooperate with known firms of the health care like AOK Bayern. Custom-built hospital bed systems ernlarge our assortment, so that you can already call us "Health center Knöchel". A special product, the easy entry and exit aid which was a part of this development, has become an advantage for all waterbed owners and it is on its way to all waterbed bedrooms.
Because of the high demand of various services, the Wasserbett-Zentrum Knöchel delevoped to the biggest waterbed service provider in Europe! Likely an unique service in germany: our 24-hour field service supports our customers in all matters. Special exchange and extension programs assure our customers to own a modern, power-saving and adequate mattress system. One of them is our water amount setting service.
In the last years, a concentration in the division of the waterbed merchants happened for the benefit of big and powerful contractors. The consequence was an extinction of small local aterbed boutiques. The customers of this former waterbed stores had to reorientate themselves and they found a perfect solution with Wasserbett-Zentrum Knöchel, which offers them even more service than their former waterbed store.
