Softside/Hardside-System
We comare both systems with each other, but we have to inform
you that hardside systems are hardly sold anymore.
Future belongs to the softside system with its
advantages! The latest technological achievement is a
waterbed system with an easy entry and exit aid, which was
especially designed for us by one of our
manufacturer.
The softside system

A softsider consists of a 20cm high waterbed mattress, which is embedded in a flexible foam frame. The foam frame stabilzes and forms the mattress. Because of its isolating effect referring to the room temperature there is an extra power-saving effect for the heating. The foam frame allows a comfortable seat on the frame and it guarantees an easy entry and exit.
The foam frame is mounted on a base plate. The heating lies there also. The security foil is spanned over the foam liner and base plate (and heating) and works as a kind of catch basin. It avoids the leakage of water out of the softsider in case of leakiness. There are weight distributors allotted equaly under the base plate, the height of the weight distributors can be regulated to the preferred height of the softsider.
The foam liner is braided by a mattress cover whose top can be taken off by a circular zipper and is supposed to be washable by a machine. The softside system looks like a normal mattress optically.
The hardside system

Hardside waterbeds are the original model. Nowadays they are squeezed out of the market by the modern softside waterbeds mostly. The hard frame is the reason why it is called hardside:
Hardside = hard frame
A hardside waterbed consists of a solid waterbed frame, which protects the mattress on the side in the entire height. In opposite of the softside waterbed where the mattress is stabilzed by a foam frame on both sides, the bed frame works as stabilzer in a hardside system. The hardside waterbed mattress fills the bed frame completely. A textile overlay lies on the waterbed mattress and can be taken off and get washed. Advantage: The bed system itself is cheaper, so that a self-made build-up is cheaper.
Disadvantages
- the entry and exit is less comfortable
- covering a bed is more difficult
- a hardside waterbed can not be integrated in every bed frame
The degree of hardness is important!

FREE-FLOW - No damping. Time of post-pulse oscillation up to 27 sec. Only for real fans of the pure FLOW-felling. Not recommended for starter.

50% damping - double-ply - Time of post-pulse
oscillation 8-10 sec. This tranquillization is made for those who
appreciate a bit of swell.

75% damping - three-ply - Time of post-pulse
oscillation 4-6 sec. This tranquillization is made for all who want
to have the waterbed feeling, but do not want to get seasick.

90% damping - 4 or 5-ply - Time of post-pulse oscillation less than 2 sec. This tranquillization is made for those who want a calm waterbed with comfortable vibrations, and do not want swell.

99% damping - 6 to 10-ply - No post-pulse oscillation. This tranquillization is made for those who want a waterbed that do not move at all. Furthermore there is a lumbar vertebra support integrated for those who are heavier at the pelvis area.
Face your choice: Uno or dual system

Choose between a UNO system with one end-to-end
mattress and a heating oder a DUAL system with 2
separate mattresses and a heating for each mattress, so that both
partners can choose their own individual amount of water and
temperature.
If the difference between the weight of both partners is more than
30 kg (at the same height), we recommend the DUAL
system!
